What Is a BlackBerry PIN for?

Each BlackBerry device is unique. Whether it is the Pearl, Curve, Storm or Bold, the phone comes equipped with an eight-digit PIN. The PIN, which is the identification device for the phone, can be located under the phone's settings icon in the status section. The PIN has several uses.

    Individuality

  1. Just like phone numbers, no two PINs are alike. It exists as the birthmark of the phone: the number programmed to the device before purchase.
  2. Identification

  3. In case the phone is damaged, the PIN is the way of identifying the exact model and contract for the phone.
  4. Communication

  5. When emailing, the PIN can be used to send electronic messages to another BlackBerry device. The PIN ensures that the mail will be delivered to the correct address and is a convenient way to speed up the messaging process.
  6. BlackBerry Messenger

  7. Through BlackBerry Messenger, users can chat with fellow users. A PIN is needed to add a friend onto the contact list.
  8. Downloads

  9. When you want to download new programs to your BlackBerry, such as the BlackBerry Professional Software, the PIN can be entered for a link to be sent directly to the device for download.
